Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - February 2, 2025 - Nova Scotia Liberal MP Jaime Battiste has dropped out of the Liberal Party leadership race to support former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney.
Battiste, a member of the Eskasoni First Nation, was the only First Nations candidate in the race to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. He aimed to make history and prioritize key priorities in the leadership race.
Five candidates remain in the race: Carney, former finance minister Chrystia Freeland, former government House leader Karina Gould, former Montreal Liberal MP Frank Baylis, and former Brampton, Ont., Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla.
The Liberal Party of Canada announced that almost 400,000 registered Liberals had signed up to vote in the upcoming leadership race.
