Utoo Radio with Other News Sources - June 6 2025 - Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney has introduced legislation to grant Ottawa new powers to expedite major projects in the national interest.

The bill, tabled in the House of Commons by Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc, would give Ottawa the authority to prioritize large projects and expedite their federal approval.

Carney aims to make the country an "energy superpower" and build a more resilient economy in response to US President Donald Trump's global trade war.

The bill would create a new federal office to streamline approvals for major projects and assign the intergovernmental affairs minister with overseeing final permitting decisions.

The legislation also includes a sunset clause that forces a review of the law after five years.
